Your Spices Are Really Stacked

Posted on August 6th, 2008 by Rachel Hartman.

I have to confess, I normally turn up my nose at spice organizers.  I am an eclectic spice buyer.  I buy a wide variety of spice brands, which means I have a wide variety of spice bottles and jars.  There is no such thing as an industry-standard spice jar.  Too many spice racks or organizers are designed for people who buy all their spices from the same company over and over again.  Woe betide you if you dare to shop eclectically.

Then over on the Rookie Cook, a recent visitor pointed us to the Spice Stack.  At first my nose was heading upward, but once I looked it over, I was impressed.  Sure, the drawers are still sized for bottles of a certain diameter, but you don’t have to fight diameter differences plus height differences.  The sliding drawer design is pretty nifty, not to mention that it keeps your spices in the dark until they’re needed.  Keeping your spices out of the light is a great way to extend their shelf life so … y’know, I think I need to get my nose out of the air and see about getting one of these.
